Wadi Rum, Dead Sea and back to Amman

Off to Wadi Rum - The Valley of the Moon is what the Bedouin call it. Lawerence of arabia,The Martian and Mad Max were filmed here.  It is the home to several Bedouin tribes.  In some areas it has the finest red sand.  We took a 4x4 drive thru the Wadi.
We explored Kharazeh Canyon where there are drawings dating back to the Neolithic period.
We meet new friends while hiking the canyon.  Many pictures and poses had to be made.

This beautiful arch reminds us of Arches National Park

Next we head up to the Dead Sea stopping in Aqaba, a major port town and the four corners of this area.  We see Egypt, Saudia Arabia, Israel while standing in Jordan.

Off to the dead sea thru the uninhabitable dessert.
The long day ended with dinner in our room.
Breakfast the next morning over looking the pools, the Dead Sea and Israel.

Spent the morning at the Spa having a Balinese massage!  Luscious😍

Off to Amman for our final day.  We stopped at the Jordan Museum.

It is a history of Jordan from 65,000 years ago to today.  Each era has a brief selection of archeological finds along with a history of each period.  We also saw portions of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Esam, our guide, then took us on a walking tour of downtown Amman and the Suqs.  A very life place.
Had a delicious Jordanian dessert called Kanafeh.  It is a Levantine goat cheese pastry soaked in sweet syrup with honey and pistachio.  It dates from the Ottoman Empire.
Stopped for a turkish coffee before calling it a day.  Don and I didn't get very many stares as there are so many foreigners living in Amman.

We highly recommend a trip to Jordan. If you go, use Jordan Select Tours and ask for Esam to be your driver and guide.

Off to Tel Aviv in the early morning.
